Modernized skills supplement

Use this companion to the main guide for the vehicle inspection and basic control skills test. DOL says it replaces Sections 11 and 12 of the main guide.

This is the public state guide. 3C’s own pre-trip lessons and training materials are separate student materials.

What should I study first?

Use the guide’s study chart and confirm your tests with Enrollment. Your license class, existing license and intended vehicle determine the sections you need.

  • Class A with air brakes: focus on General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Combination Vehicles.
  • Class B with air brakes: focus on General Knowledge and Air Brakes.
  • Passenger, school bus, tanker, doubles/triples or Hazmat: study the applicable endorsement sections and confirm prerequisites. First-time Hazmat applicants need required ELDT before the Hazmat knowledge test.

Reading the guide or taking a practice test does not count as completing ELDT or a school course.

FOR ENROLLED STUDENTS
